Prévention BTP features a "Jobsite Solution" report on using red light lines projected onto the ground around pavers.
This publication details the implementation of the Red Line Visio® system at Charier RTU, a company specializing in road and urban construction. The solution is used during nighttime asphalt paving to make the work zone around machinery immediately visible.
The report was updated on December 18, 2025.
During nighttime roadwork, pavers, compactors, and ground crews operate in a mobile environment that is often cramped and subject to limited visibility.
Charier RTU had specifically identified a collision risk for employees working behind the paver, near the compactors.
To improve awareness of this zone, the company equipped its pavers with Red Line Visio® projectors. Mounted at various points on the machine, they project red lines directly onto the road surface.
These lines provide a shared visual reference for machine operators and ground personnel.
Unlike fixed road markings, the light line moves along with the machine.
The system allows for adjustments to:
In the setup presented by Prévention BTP, the line behind the paver is projected at a distance of five meters. The compactor operator is then instructed not to cross this boundary.
This distance corresponds to the organization adopted by the company featured in the article. Each installation must be studied and adjusted according to the machine, the job site, and the safety protocols defined by the operator.
The Prévention BTP publication also features feedback from managers at Charier RTU.
After several years of use, the red line projected onto the ground has become an instantly recognizable reference point for teams, naturally integrated into daily site operations.
The equipment is installed by the company's workshop, often at the request of paver operators.
Ground light projection does not replace regulatory marking, site procedures, training, vehicle signaling, protective equipment, or existing detection systems.
It adds a mobile visual marker positioned directly on the road surface, as close as possible to the area in question.
As noted by Prévention BTP, its effectiveness is especially significant at night. Its visibility may be more limited during the day and can vary depending on ambient light, road surface type, dust, humidity, installation height, and settings.
This publication serves as a particularly important reference for Ledpowerlight®.
It provides a concrete illustration of how Red Line Visio® is used in roadworks and confirms the value of ground light projection in making work zones around machinery more immediately visible.
For over ten years, Ledpowerlight® has been developing lighting and signaling solutions for demanding professional environments, including public works, waste collection, material handling, industry, and infrastructure.
